Growth and Development Consultations
THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF ORTHODONTISTS (AAO) RECOMMENDS THAT YOUR CHILD’S FIRST CHECK-UP WITH AN ORTHODONTIST BE PERFORMED WHEN AN ORTHODONTIC PROBLEM IS FIRST RECOGNIZED, BUT NO LATER THAN AGE 7.
We provide an initial consultation at no cost and no referral is needed! There are generally three outcomes of an initial check-up:
● No treatment is necessary at this time.
● There is a problem that lends itself to early treatment.
● Treatment may be needed in the future. Your child will be asked to return for recall appointments to monitor tooth eruption as well as facial and jaw growth. These are called growth and development checks.
Growth and Development checks are periodic recall appointments scheduled by your orthodontist to allow them to monitor tooth eruption or face and jaw growth. This enables the orthodontist to identify any potential issues as your child grows and the eruption of new permanent teeth takes place. These easy appointments are scheduled every 6-9 months and allow your child to get familiar with the orthodontic office. During the appointment your child will have a complete orthodontic exam and a yearly panoramic x-ray if needed.
Growth and development evaluations are provided at no charge to your child here at Parkfield Orthodontics, and they are a great way to make sure you are doing everything you can to provide your child a healthy bite and a beautiful smile.
